Things are unexpectedly lively for the residents of Sheldon Oaks retirement home. Carol's had a scrape with the law and retired barrister Margaret is working hard to clear her (not so good) name, while their two close friends and fellow Sheldon Oaks denizens are gearing up for their own battle of wits—their wedding day. Luckily, Margaret gets Carol out of the jam just in time for her to attend the joyful event.
Things don't stay joyful for long, however, as the bride-to-be's disgruntled ex-husband, Nigel, turns up, warning her not to marry hew new beloved. Then, even more unfortunately, Nigel is found murdered on the morning of the wedding with the spike used to hold the wedding cake together. Nigel was never the most likeable chap and there are more suspects than hors d'oeuvres at the cocktail hour. Can Carol and her friends solve the murder so they can all live happily ever after? Or will death do them part?
