One of America's most celebrated photographers throws open the doors of the two legendary New York discotheques he owned in the 1960s, sharing hundreds of never-before-seen photographs from the epicenter of the era's music, fashion and fame.

Night Life: New York 1955–1970 includes images of Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Diana Ross, Andy Warhol, Edie Sedgwick and Catherine Deneuve, photographed not by an outsider looking in but by the man who owned the room.

Released to coincide with Jerry Schatzberg’s 100th birthday, the book features a preface by best-selling New York novelist Jonathan Lethem, alongside essays by Ben Amandes and Juliana Mendelsohn of the Jerry Schatzberg Archive, and a biography by Carlos Valladares. The book also features ephemera and press clippings, and first-hand testimony from club bouncers, DJs, insiders and Schatzberg himself.

With a recent MoMA film retrospective and exhibitions in New York and Paris, the Palme d’Or-winning Schatzberg remains as relevant as ever; this beautifully presented book shines a light on a lesser-known chapter of his life and work.
