This is the third and concluding volume of a widely-acclaimed study of the crucial role of the Argentine Army in the nation's politics since 1928. The period covered extends from the overthrow of President Arturo Frondizi to the restoration to power of Juan D. Perón following the elections of March 1973. This period encompasses the seven-year military regime known as the Argentine Revolution, ending in the complex political duel that arrayed President Alejandro A. Lanusse against the exiled Perón. The book is based to an extraordinary degree on new Argentine sources. The author's access to the private archives of key military men, together with data obtained from scores of interviews with both civilians and military men - including ex-Presidents, cabinet ministers, and commanders-in-chief - have made possible this detailed, authoritative account of a hectic period in Argentine history.
