In a small village in the mountains of Teruel, Nieves, the new doctor, tries to help Micaela, a girl who has stopped sleeping and going to school, and who seems to be living under the siege of an unnamed fear.
What begins as a clinical case brings her closer to Clementina, the girl’s grandmother, and to a family history shaped by the harshest years of the postwar period, when the anti-Franco guerrilla movement, repression, and secrecy forever marked the fate of many places.
In her search for answers, Nieves comes to understand that there are forms of suffering that cannot be addressed without listening to what for decades remained confined to the realm of the private. Her relationship with Micaela, Clementina, and the townspeople also transforms her own perspective on care, loss, and the bonds that unite one generation with another, even when collective silence seems to have erased all traces.
