Like most of the boys in his logging town, Ayun Dawns dreams of becoming a tree feller. But his world is ripped apart when his mother is murdered by assassins, forcing him to flee the only home he’s ever known.
Life in a city orphanage is rough—until Ayun meets Faith, a bright light in his dark world. When Faith is adopted, Ayun is left heartbroken yet determined to forge a path for himself by joining the Academy of the Fist—an elite military force sworn to eradicate weavers, those who wield forbidden magic. Grit and resolve earn Ayun his place at the academy, where brutal training proves less horrifying than the secret he discovers: Ayun is a weaver.
As he rises up the ranks of the Fist, chance brings Faith back into his life and hiding the truth becomes unbearable.
But if he reveals his secret, he risks his life. Someone knows what Ayun is, though, and they have plans for him that could shatter the barrier between gods and mortals, plunging the world into chaos.
