For years, Goat Valley Campground manager Kate has been sending out a pamphlet titled "How to Survive Your Camping Experience." In it, there is a list of rules to help campers have a great time and avoid any difficult encounters with the camp's...other...inhabitants. Though she knows by now that not everyone seems to be reading it.
At first, everything feels under control. The Harvesters haven't amputated any limbs, the Man with the Skull Cup (or Beau, as the camp has now affectionately named him) hasn't made any campers too violently ill, and Kate's changeling niece has kept out of trouble. But when a corpsenado sweeps through the camp and the Beast that has cursed Kate's family for decades starts acting differently, Kate finds herself completely out of her depth. Because what good are her rules if the creatures change the game?
Kate desparately searches for answers in her family's past. Because it's more than just her life at stake; with the land turning ancient, whoever--or whatever--ascends next will be in charge of the campground. And their rules might not be as helpful as Kate's.
