In contrast, corporations routinely report on both their income and\nassets to assess their economic health and prospects for the future. Wealth accounts allow\ncountries to take stock of their assets to monitor the sustainability of development, an urgent\nconcern today for all countries.\n\nThe Changing Wealth of Nations 2018: Building a Sustainable Future covers national wealth\nfor 141 countries over 20 years (1995–2014) as the sum of produced capital, 19 types of\nnatural capital, net foreign assets, and human capital overall as well as by gender and type of\nemployment. Great progress has been made in estimating wealth since the fi rst volume, Where\nIs the Wealth of Nations? Measuring Capital for the 21st Century, was published in 2006. New\ndata substantially improve estimates of natural capital, and, for the fi rst time, human capital is\nmeasured by using household surveys to estimate lifetime earnings.\n\nThe Changing Wealth of Nations 2018 begins with a review of global and regional trends in\nwealth over the past two decades and provides examples of how wealth accounts can be used\nfor the analysis of development patterns. Several chapters discuss the new work on human\ncapital and its application in development policy. The book then tackles elements of natural\ncapital that are not yet fully incorporated in the wealth accounts: air pollution, marine fi sheries,\nand ecosystems.\n\nThis book targets policy makers but will engage anyone committed to building a sustainable\nfuture for the planet.","brand":"World Bank Publications","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46616437883135,"sku":"9781464810466","price":39.95,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0452\/0886\/2873\/files\/Jacket_a70b7414-c376-4a7d-b69b-79eb5a0b0674.jpg?v=1740031104","url":"https:\/\/massivebookshop.com\/products\/9781464810466","provider":"MASSIVE BOOKSHOP","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
